Answer this for me..........why all the crap about Carl Crawford shutting it down? I understand he hasn't lived up to the big contract, but when you back away and look at the facts, he has a bad injury, this team is going nowhere but is not in such bad shape that new leadership, a couple of new player pickups and a new attitude can't turn around, so why not want him to get healthy for next year? Yes, they aren't completely out of the wild card, but realistically this isn't the Sox year.

Obviously I'm speaking for a national perspective but the perspective we've been given is that the locals were up in arms leading up to the shut down.

The perception is that Crawford can still play through it but is willingly shutting it down when the Sox are floundering and can use all the help they can get. Are they going to win the World Series? No. Are they going to get in the playoffs? No. Both are beside the point. Who cares, fuck them all except Padilla, Salty, Buchholz and Ortiz.

I'm ok with Crawford shutting it down because this team is doing absolutely nothing. The sooner he has the surgery, the sooner he's back next season.

If you play a throwing position and require Tommy John surgery on the throwing elbow, then you would think the fans would support the surgery.

I agree with everything you said Bluc, I was more explaining why some fans are pissed at Crawford.
Is it justified? No. Crawford isn't the problem here and making him play till the end of the season isn't going to make things better. The FOX announcers were openly discussing this topic on Saturday's telecast and highlighted a throw Crawford made from the left field corner to 2B on the fly as an example that he can still play and that the perception was that though it appeared that he could still play it also appeared that he was begging out of the lineup which of course was a foreign concept for those talking about it. They couldn't comprehend someone asking out of the lineup when they could still play.
The Sox aren't going anywhere, Crawford should get it taken care of and he'll most likely be back next year by the All Star break.
I can't blame him for wanting to get as far away from this bunch of assholes as fast as possible.

Its not his fault he is always been injured but he sums up the Sox efforts in signing lately and gets some of the fan frustration for under performing on a huge contract. Horrible signing then and now in hindsight even more..add lackey and there you go.

Team is about to miss playoffs for 3rd straight year.. no playoff wins since 08 ... its not their year song has gotten old..They have been surpassed as a franchise by TB who has much greater payroll contraints yet will finish higher then sox for 4th time in 5 years.. will take more then another manager or less injuries to change things.
