I'll take the 365 hp twin turbo Taurus SHO, thank you. Don't get me wrong, the BMW is a sweet car, but they can be EXPENSIVE to fix, and there are times you are going to need a BMW specialist to work on the car. The SHO is a bad ass car for a lot less money and is well built.
If I bought a BMW today, I'd probably go the certified pre-owned route. You can get a very nice BMW for $30k(and under) with not a lot of miles and a very strong warranty. But again, if you keep it long term, repairs could be costly if needed, and regardless of the reputation, they do need repairs.
