NYC for weekend need some ideas

i found out we are going to some place "The Long Room" or something like that Saturday night. Irish gastropub. I had nothing to do with that reservation but it doesn't look bad.

I really only order pastrami when i go to a deli, and katz is the best i've ever had anywhere. The fries are good too, they're long, thick cut almost steak-like fries*

Carnegie's menu has a bigger selection but i'd def go to Katz and order the Pastrami.

Went to Blue Water Grill and Mesa Grill last week.

BWG was outstanding. Waiter was great, let him pick out oysters for us and they were amazing(mostly from WA) and took his recommendation on a bottle of chardonnay. I got grilled jumbo shrimp and sea scallops. Some kind of molten lava chocolate cake for dessert with a glass of moscato and some other sweet red wine.

Mesa was just ok. Started off with a peach margarita, mushrooms quesadilla and goat cheese queso...nothing special. then onto a classic margarita and got a spiced rubbed pork tenderloin. it was good but was expecting better. for dessert got another peach margarita which i followed up with another classic LOL. Only reason I would go back is to get some margaritas.

DC have you been to Oceana? Thinking of going there or back to BWG Thursday.

I went to the Mesa Grill at Caesars in Vegas a fuckin loved it.. I have been told by many the NYC branch is alil tired and could use a renovation/new look ..

Have not been to Oceana yet but heard good reviews..

I will be heading up to NYC for the Belmont Stakes and plan on trying out The Dutch which is the sister restaurant and same chef as Bobby D's Italian joint Locandra Verde which was fuckin outstanding!

Have to try Oceana another time, Lugz got me all scared to eat too much seafood with his gout situation.

Going to BLT Prime instead, read reviews and everyone said it was much better than BLT Steak so I'd like to judge that for myself.

For the ninth season of Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen, which debuts July 18, announced prize is “a head chef position at BLT Steak in New York City. Once again, that prize isn’t exactly what the winner will receive, because it will actually be giving its winner a position in a kitchen working under another chef, Top Chef contestant Cliff Crooks, who was disqualified during season two because of the conflict with Marcel.

Why wait until fall, come next weekend.

I know that feeling. Its still scary to go down them and trust my left knee. Getting better at going up though.

No can do next month, June is a busy month. I am taking 5 vacation days for bike week and golf outings.

Not to mention the medicine I'm taking gives me the worst smelling farts I have ever had!! Nobody should be subjected to them....except my wife

Gave Mesa Grill another chance for lunch on Thursday. Got the Quesadilla for app again, kinda blah. I got the Spicy Chicken and Sweet Potato Hash and it was amazing. Soooo good. Also had a few White Peach Margaritas lol.



Then for dinner on Thursday night went to BLT Prime. Started out with a dozen oysters, very bland(i had oysters twice in the past week and these ones weren't even 1/4 as good). Porterhouse for 2 cooked perfectly but was tough. Creamed Spinich(not a fan anyway), Stuffed Mushrooms no flavor, Potato Skins were good. Best part of the meal were the Popovers and Carrot Cake with Ginger ice cream. Not impressed, won't go back.

I would gag if served a steak "cooked" rare. Couldn't do it.

Am I the only one who cannot eat dessert when I go out to eat? I mean, I'm a fat ass and all, but after a shared appetizer and an entree I can't imagine dessert, and I'm almost always taking home some leftovers.
