If/when they sweep, again, this has to be the most imrobably dominant run to the Stanley Cup finals ever.
Absolutely crushing as an 8th seed, 12-1 in the playoffs, in a sport where the difference between winning and losing is measured in millimeters/seconds (6 if you're a Caps fan).
I hope they aren't Western heroes who melt when coming back to play the East.
I hate the Rangers but a Rangers-Kings Stanley Cup final would be ratings gold.

curious why you hate the Rangers. Of all the Boston teams the Bruins are the only ones I don't have any ill will towards. They've always been in a different division and they haven't played each other in the playoffs in my lifetime. I hate the Flyers and Devils.

NY is winning more titles lately .. boston is stuck in 04 and 05 .. If Rangers win the cup NY will have a 4-2 lead in titles last 5 years and 4-3 last 7...yes boston is ahead 6-4 last 10 but those 3 04 and 05 titles ( 2pats and 1 redsox) are getting further and further away.. This is one of the reasons I can't root for NY though bandwagon Kings fan Bill Simmons is making me consider pulling for the Rangers now lol

I have always hated the Rangers, as a matter of fact they were the first team I really couldn't stand, before even Montreal and it may have stemmed from this brawl, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on1qlcd_Q48) which I watched live when I was a kid and it always stuck with me because the Rangers were almost as good as the Bruins and had somer personalities as well, like Ed Giacomin. I didn't like the Espo-Park-Ratelle trade (at first) because they were fucking Rangers and I always hated them, seriously.
Free agency in sports changed everything and nobody spends an entire career with one team anymore but, like most NY teams, my contempt for the Rangers lives. That doesn't mean that I don't respect them because I do and I think they have a great shot at winning the Cup this year, but I will be rooting for the Kings because, well, I don't like the Rangers, I never have and never will and I enjoy seeing them lose. It has nothing to do with any recent Boston title drought. The Rangers are also an original 6 team and should they find a way to win the Cup they will be the 4th OS team in the last 5 years to win it. As I said earlier, a Rangers-Kings Stanley Cup Final should be ratings gold and I hope it happens because that would be a huge boost to have the 2 largest TV markets battling it out. It should make casual fans (like front row Simmons) take notice and will help market the league immensely.

p.s. Other teams that I can't stand include Montreal, Buffalo, Atlantic division minus the Islanders (they are harmless) Hartford/Carolina, Vancouver, Dallas and maybe San Jose.

My bad was not saying there is any drought afterall all 4 Boston teams have won titles since 05 just that NY could argue they are more of a title town recently with a 3rd team winning title in different sport in last 4 years. Save the NY has more teams argument ...anyone who has ever traveled to NY knows its yanks, giants, rangers and that mets, jets, islanders are lil brother.. Anyways this is MY REASON for rooting against Rangers up to this point.
