Carnagie Deli is about 10 blocks north of your hotel, but in opposite direction of MSG. Restaurants and Pizza around Times Sq suck, unless you don't mind spending $$$$

The Marriott Marquis is indeed in the middle of Times Square and I love the place. Someone mentioned the Carnegie Deli, I like the Stage Deli as well. There are a lot of places within walking distance, you'll find something for most any appetite.

There is a spinning bar at the top of the Marriott that will give you great views of Manhattan and the Hudson. I forget the name but it's pretty cool.

Don't be afraid to venture away from the tourist trap that is Times Sq. (I know you are a tourist but there's so much more than there). Lots of good bars that aren't in Times Sq. If you're looking for a place to watch Boston games, the Hairy Monk is great spot. That's on 3rd Ave at 25th Street. Lotta cool bars down the Village, too.

If it's clear day, go to top of Empire State Building---that's a good take.

Don't be afraid of taking the subway if it's the most convenient (and cheapest) way to go---it's not 1979 anymore.

If you get a nice day for walking around, go up to Central Park and check out Strawberry Fields & watch the hippies sing Beatles tunes.
