Baseball 2012

Yahoo! leagues opened today, and I believe ESPN leagues are open now as well.

Is there any doubt that Miggy should be the #1 overall pick?

I would take him first but if someone took Pujols I wouldn't think they were crazy. I'd rather have a later pick though and try to nab best available middle infielders.

Have a feeling Ellsbury is going to disappoint this year.

That time of year again........deciding on keepers. As it stands, I am keeping Desmond Jennings, Adam Wainwright and Stephen Strasburg(and hoping those pitchers' arms don't fall off again). I have room for one or two more players with the "money" I have to spend. Recommendations are appreciated....

a) Pablo Sandoval

b) Lance Berkman AND Mike Trout(does Lance have another year in him and is Trout going to start the year in the bigs?)

c) Sergio Santos AND Jordan Walden(don't like keeping closers, but if could solidify the spot and use the draft picks on bats)

d) Tommy Hanson(new throwing motion to relieve shoulder stress)

e) Josh Johnson(solid when healthy, but when is he healthy?)

f) Jair Jurrjens and one of the two closers, or one of Berkman and Trout(this is probably the least likely scenario)

another available option.......I trade my 6th round pick for the rights to Buster Posey and Brandon Beachy.

I think you can squeeze one more year out of Berkman. After that I'd go Sandoval. All those pitchers are scary to me.

what about Posey and Beachy? Posey is going anywhere from the 4th to the 6th round in mock drafts, though there are concerns of course. I've seen Beachy anywhere from the 9th(too high) to the 21st(too low).

I was assuming you'd be keeping Berkman at whatever price/round u took him at last yr.

In a vacuum Id take posey and beachy I guess, although I do think Berkman will be 290-25-100

I think Beachy will end up being a solid SP3 or SP4 by season's end, to the point I'm willing to gamble on it happening and if I have him, Stras and Wainwright I may draft all bats in the first 10 rounds(minus my lost 6th round pick). I'm leaning towards making the deal but won't be disappointed if it doesn't happen because barring another trade I'd likely go with Sandoval.

That's tough. I'm leaning towards Aram to be honest. Arod just seems ready for a breakdown.

Not that anyone cares, but I made a trade including cash and the rights to Lance Berkman and acquired the rights to Freddie Freeman, giving me Freeman, Jennings, Wainwright and Strasburg, and I have them cheap enough I can keep them all for a couple of more seasons if I choose.

For those drafting soon, you can plan on Ryan Braun for 162 games.
