thinking about taking the plunge on the iPad....heard nothing but good things. Anyone have anything negative

Thing is the balls. A nice side effect will be my laptop lasting a lot longer. Because it's getting neglected quite a bit lately.

My only minor quibble is that there are certain sites (my credit union) or fields (comments on Blog Island) where I can't seem to type anything in. But nothing major.

But I did figure out an end-around to still speak out amongst the 'tards of BI---just write the comment on an outgoing email, copy, open Safari back up, then paste.

Reading the iPad first the in the morning helps me wake up, gets the melon going.

It's been great. Lasts all day. I made sure to use the whole thing the first several times.

I'll plug it in every few days, battery is great.

rumor is that ipad 3 will be announced this fall, but nothing in stone as to a release date. new iphone more likely in the near future.

can't you just go through at&t. once you change the screen yourself the warranty and everything is done.

As tballa said if it's still under warranty your best bet is probably to just pay extra for apple to do it. If it's already out of warranty, there are a bunch of electronics places that can do it. There's one on Newbury Street.
