Midseason Report in order of current standings:
MCA: Outside of Hanley, he's getting career years from most of his guys (Kemp, Jack, Bautista, Jim Shields) and if this continues he'll win. Do we really think Alex Avila and Frenchy are going to end up at 290, 20, 90 or Jim Shields is going to have 260 Ks? I don't.
Cro: Solid team. Pitching will do him in. Kyle Lohse and Scott Baker currently have ERAs around 3, good luck with that.
Sim: If he smartens up and makes a deal for some pitching, he'll be dangerous. McCutchen, Youk, Gonzo, Berkman (sick drop by Tooler), and a bag of dicks on the mound.
Tooler: Another guy with no pitching. His plan to load up on relievers is working out how everyone expected. He's walking away with 1 category (saves) while punting two (Ks, Ws). He'll continue to entertain us by picking up every guy that gets called up from AA.
Striker: Too many guys with a bunch of HRs while hitting under .260. Adam Dunn is pure toture. Pitching staff is filth (Weaver, Doc, Bell). Perennial top 5 teams so I'll be there in September.
BSS Geeks: Solid team. I'd keep my eye on this squad. If Pujols can come back strong, this team will be in the mix.
BA5: He's got pitchers that strike guys out and get wins. Outside of that his team is middle of the road, at best.
Beeper: Votto off from last year, Mauer has the HIV and Utley isn't the same. Also starting Hafner and Delmon Young. Not a good combo for success.
Bernard: Starter ERAs hover around 4, relievers are over 3. Elvis Andrus is his best threat on O. Not a recipe for success.
Champ/Bible/Abomb: These are just bad teams. I think Abomb and Bible gave up around May 15. Bible traded Cliff Lee for Arod. Abomb traded his entire team for pitching. The defending champ is starting Vern Wells.
Fundamentals are a crutch for the talentless
