NHL offseason

Probably should've started this a few weeks ago, I guess. Jagr to Flyers--didn't see that one coming.

glad to see that the bruins aren't making a big splash this offseason....especially with seeing some of the deals being made out there......talk about about overpaying
It is what it is......

These last two days have been the most ridiculous two days of FA signings ever.

4.5 for Fleischmann? Bahahaha. About the same for Leino (made under $1M last year). Eddie Jo got paid like a 25-year-old and not the 35-year-old he is. And TO just gave Tim Connolly (career high 65 points, history of injuries and concussions) 2 yrs. @ 4.75M per. Laughable. That's more $ than all but Z, Timmy, and Bergeron.

I'm so fucking glad the Bs are basically standing pat.

This was perhaps biggest surprise of yesterday.

Richards has great timing.

C- for a team with minimal needs after giving them credit for not paying Ryder? Wyshynski is better than that. Were they supposed to overpay for a player they didn't need just to "do something" over a holiday weekend? Child, please. They'll grab a hungry vet soon enough (Drury/Langenbrunner/Arnott, along those lines). I turned on Felger yesterday and lasted 3 minutes. I'm not ready for his flip-flop yet (too much $ on guys to not spending more $ with raised cap). Forget about the 4 RFA they'll have (3 very important ones) and 7 UFA, a couple of who may be looking for or deserving of a raise. They are in the ultimate cat bird's seat.

I'm going to copy 'n paste the MB to write my next blog.

Yes, good chance for that...if not an earlier round.

DC finally got a top-flight goalie. Vokuon turned town 4 years/$10M to stay in Sunrise for $1.5M and a shot at the Cup.

This shit is pretty fucking cool if you were around during the WHA (or even just like old logos/teams and shit). I love obsolete logos.

That original NE Whalers one is pretty sweet with the harpoon.

That is a sweet blog. I love old stuff like that.

This is where it all started for me as an NHL fan. I chose this squad strictly because I liked the uniform.....

Cool site RA, The Boston Garden was the home of 3 teams during the Orr years. The Bruins, Boston Braves and the Whalers, and they had pretty respectable attendance for all.
I also saw a woman at the beach yesterday wearing an old Nordiques hat, and she was good looking as well.
I like stories.

I'm not a real hockey guy, but Stamkos contract seems too small.

Big Walt Tkachuk elected to USHHOF, along with Chelios, Suter, Emrick, & Snider.

1 of 4 Americans w/500+ goals.

Not really a soccer follower but these are pretty cool, especially from a bored fan.

Rick Rypien found dead by family member, police say it wasn't suspicious. Last played w/Van, was getting ready to come back with WPG after taking personal time for depression issues.

Shit. Another young player gone.
