I don't remember in which thread we had our discussion about what is worse in the summer, Naples or Las Vegas, but I hired a guy three weeks ago that lived in Vegas for that last 15 years and he is dying down here. He has to go into the walk in about every hour and have a two minute sit down on the beer. We just look at him and say just wait for August when it actually gets humid.

Damage is damage. When people have suffered losses it doesn't matter the location. One of the hardest hit areas in the state(and it gets no attention really) is in northwestern area of my home county and it is just weird seeing a bunch of driveways leading to nowhere(or rubble if it hasn't been cleared yet) and nothing but snapped trees everywhere. The area gets no notice nationally and very little even in this state yet the damage is great and people lost property and even their lives. It sucks whether it is Tuscaloosa, here, Joplin or Massachusetts.

There would be no sarcasm from me.

Quite frankly, the 4/27/11 storms were rare even for here. This was greater than the 4/3/74 event for this area at least and until this April that was always the measuring stick for how bad the weather really was. We had one hit 11/16/89 during rush hour right down one of the busiest thoroughfares in the city that killed 20+ people in about a mile long stretch and injured hundreds of others, but the overall outbreak was nothing like those other events.

Inside the "mdt" area means.....

45% chance of winds greater than 50 knots within 25 miles of any point within that area.
30% chance of hail greater than 1 inch in diameter withing 25 miles of any point within that area. There is also a smaller area that covers a good bit of Massachusetts(and parts of other states) where there is at least a 10% possibility of hail greater than 2" in diameter within 25 miles of any point.

Tornado probabilities are there but extremely low(2%-5% within a 25 mile area of any point), but the wind gusts stated above can do just as severe damage.

1st day of Summer and starting with today and over about the next week not one high temp at or above 90 degrees, whereas every day but 1 has topped 90 for almost a month, and that 1 day was because of rain.
