This is truly embarrassing though, running a pool and making the winner track down the winnings. Whoever runs the pool is responsible for paying and collecting, even if it's out of his/her pocket til they collect.

I don't expect anyone to pay if there are deadbeats. Running the pool for other's enjoyment shouldn't financially obligate them to cover for everyone. If that's the case here, SS needs to out the deadbeats, but I was under the understanding everyone had paid up with the exception of those who paid me directly, which they all have now.
I am the league treasurer for our fantasy football and baseball leagues. I keep a separate savings account with ING Direct that is used for the fantasy leagues only, no personal use, and have my PayPal connected to that account as well as my personal banking account. When it is time to pay the winnings, I transfer the money back out of that ING DIrect account and pay via PayPal. If I win anything, the money is transferred to the ING checking account and I have a Visa debit card with them to use so I can blow my winnings on whatever. It couldn't be any easier.
