I saw the first few episodes of this and then lost interest. Should I just watch the finale online?

Within the story i can certainly reasonably believe that an alien race of people that look like us crash landed here and so on, but to drop an earth sized planet in between the earth and the moon and expect the earth to either not pull apart that smoldering planet or have the earth show a little more wear and tear then what happened makes me sad.(I can even suspend my better judgement on how you would possibly tractor beam a planet or whatever they did but there was a machine and it did things. That is enough for me to believe it could happen) a I like the show and will still watch it though. Maybe they will come up with some type of tractor beam is negating gravity or whatever.
