A Newport thread? Did the internet go back to 1995 when I wasn't looking?

I'd imagine the same 5-7 bars that everyone always went to are still the same ones everyone goes to.

I always liked the little dive bar right at the beginning of Thames St. with the pool table, great jukebox, and cold/cheap beer. Name escapes me (if you're taking 138 to Thames, you go to the left and the little bar is on the right). But it's a good spot to hit for a few beers either during day or to start night out. Not to pull any trim though.

I dunno...I know next to nothing about Newport. I think I went there twice when I was like 21-22. Don't remember much except the late night pizza place.

Ha, I'm just busting chops.

A Newport thread back in the day would have 100s of pages.

If it's hot, Johnny's ABC is a good time (if it's open).

Only ever met one person who went there and it was the girl who agreed to accompany me to the Comm Ave Best Western after 30 minutes of conversation at Cityside the night of the '09 BC spring game (I was staying on a friend's couch and she had her high school-aged cousin visiting or some crap so didn't want to bring a random guy back to her place).

No, but that was the funny part...we show up, mid-20s guy behind the front desk. He says it's $150 for the room for the night (It's probably around 11:30-12 at this point), which anyone who's ever been to that hotel knows is outrageous (I guess the hordes of people in town for the BC spring game were driving the price up) but by that point the big head wasn't exactly doing the decision making so I pull my card out. Guy then says "hey man, I know what you guys are here for, I'll let you have the room for $60 as long as you can be out by 7". I tell him that sounds good....he looks at me for a second, then down at my outstretched hand still holding my credit card, then back at me for a second...."I'll need you to pay cash though". Ahhhh, I gotcha. Dude then, I have to assume intentionally, gives us the key to a room way around the back of the hotel which took us a legit 10 minutes to find.

I used to do that shit when I worked at the local pro shop back in the day......

I was 18 and pocketing evening greens fees like a champ.....no starter, no receipts, no change (it was $20 bucks to play)....boom right in my pocket.

I guess i was a criminal back in the day, LOL

oh and PBCE, you paid $60 for the room, how much did you pay for the hooker?
It is what it is......

Same thing for the ice machine at the Maria I used to work at.

We called it "ice heist."

We wrote down the number of bags we took out of the inventory and that had to match the # sold or left in the cooler. $1.50 a bag.
