Have to think Doc knows what Danny's plans are in order to sign that deal.

Why? If the team sucks and they both get fired, Doc will still get paid to hang out wherever Austin gets drafted in 2012.

What are you talking about? Those two are thick as thieves. Do you really think Doc Rivers signed on for 5 years just to have the team slowly disintegrate? Especially with the Heat and the Knicks probably having him on top of their list for coaches if their guys fail?

Nobody thought Ainge could pull of what he did with KG and Allen. There's no reason he can't do it again, and the Celtics ownership have always lived above soft cap.

You find out how much respect the Heat have for the Bulls yet? I wonder if Lebron can force more tears out while cradling a trophy this time around.

I'm sure a ton of teams were going to.

You have no soul if "i'm a celtic" didn't strike a chord. Just saying

(don't mean you specifically to tballa, just saying the royal "you")

because danny can't promise doc shit! next year all the old guys and their big salaries are under contract then KG and allen come off I believe.. so in 13 rondo , pp off bench, maybe green .... sorry mca boston won't be d howards top choice... paul and williams are same position as rondo... so yeah there will be cap flexibility but no gurantee some gamechangers walking through the door... its def good news for celts doc signed not denying that.. but idea danny has some big plan in place is silly..

In the NBA with the have's and the have nots on top of slotted salaries you can absolutely have a 2-4 year plan and execute on every one of them.

Danny unveiled his plan for the big 3 the week he was hired as GM.

thats the other unknown that dictates you can't have def plan... new nba collective bargaining.. where there will def be some sort of hard cap ala nfl.. also came out this week about franchise tag which would allow teams to go over the cap to sign one designated player without lux tax penalty.. can't force the player to stay like nfl but the ability to pay significantly more will have guys consider staying put... its one thing to take 13 mill instead of 17.5 or whatever heatles did but if clev could have paid lebron 30 mill a year might have made things tougher.. over 5 years thats like 80 something mill left on table instead of 15-18.

Can someone go ahead and start the Celtics '12-'13 Season thread? NBA isn't going to play next year.
