There doesn't get more amateur than wed night before thanksgiving. do you wear your lettermans jacket too? I don't know a single person who gets that loaded on thanksgiving other than new college students coming home for the first time. Hanging out with your extended family all looped isn't really a sick time to me, but to each his own.

The question asked "is there a non-amateur night" and I use an entire weekend as an example for someone that asked a question about going out drinking. I'm pretty sure that Spencer is not the grumpy old skunk at the picnic like yourself who will find something wrong with every occasion and could probably enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend scenario I described. Do I go out now on Wednesday before Thanksgiving? No. But that doesn't meant that it isn't the best night go head out to drink with old friends that you may not have seen in a while. Military service members, people who live out of state but come home to see the family, anybody who enjoys getting together to celebrate Thanksgiving know this and can enjoy the experience. You obviously can't but not because you wouldn't like to, but more likely because you don't have any friends to go out with. As for drooling or throwing up on yourself (or getting all looped) ON Thanksgiving, perhaps you could stick to Shirley Temple's and leave the drinking to those who can handle it. Now pull your pants up to your moobs and enjoy your birthday.

My theory is that a lot of places it's seen as the kickoff of nice weather/outdoor drinking season, but in Mass you have Marathon Monday for this, so no one really cares about CdM.

That said I've never once in my life gone out specifically for CdM, so I'm pretty much talking out of my ass.
