Anyone ever have a sprinkler system put in? How much does it cost (obviously depends on size of yard and how many heads they install?) My lawn is in rough shape due to me cutting too low and not watering enough during the heat wave a couple months ago. Then we started to get crab grass and I pretty much gave up after that.

EDIT: it wasn't just crab grass - we had grubs too.

Anywho, lawn is in godawful shape right now. I put grub stuff down in the fall and hopefully that did the job. I don't see any birds picking at the grass like I used to. This weekend I am going to rake up all the dead grass in the front and maybe dig down 3-4 inches into the loam and wheelbarrow it all out back. Then hopefully get some new loam delivered next weekend. I have no idea how much to order though.

Also I bit the bullet and plunked down $2500 for the irrigation plus another $450 in plumbing work. They are coming Tuesday. When thats all done I have to repair the rotting fence in the backyard.

measure the area you want to fill and measure how deep you want to fill and then google how to calculate cubic feet. If I knew the formula I'd tell you--so I'm not being snarky.

I am not really sure I think like a 1/4 acre, not too big

1/4 acre is about 10,800 SF. If you go 4" deep (no homo) you are looking at about 400 cubic feet of Loam or 132 Cubic Yards.....figure on 5% waste and you are looking at 140 CYDS, rounded up....if you get it delivered and installed (spread) you are looking at about $10-$15 a cubic yard...unless you can find some cheap labor to do it for you

i'm only doing the front where the grubs were. a whole 1/4 acre of loam and i'd be in the poor house. i think i'll have to spend about $500 for what I need

there's also lyme which is different but also used on lawns.
