Boston Movie Rankings

Postby DC » Sat Apr 09, 2011 1:29 pm

I know this has been discussed in main movie thread but simmons weighed in with his rankings and I figured why not:

sportsguy33:Best Boston movies: 1. Verdict; 2. GoodWillHunting; 3. Departed; 4. GoneBabyGone; 5. Eddie Coyle; 6. Town; 7. Monument Ave; 399. Fever Pitch

Verdict with Paul Newman was great and we tend to leave it off and was nominated for best picture I believe.. good to see momument ave was not ignored

Because when I think of Boston, I think of Greenwich prep school kids.

Most underrated Boston movie of last several years: What Doesn't Kill You

Most overrated: Gone Baby Gone

Brian Goodman the director was in monument ave as an actor.. he is a real life tough guy I believe aka paulie walnuts..

I agree that was underated.. thankfully no mention of the D wahlberg/mcgowan mess that was southie..

Im big Gone Baby Gone fan though

Yeah, Goodman used to do scores then some time before he straightened out. I heard that Paulie was more an earner than a bona fide wise guy (my aunt's father knew him back in NYC).

"Southie" doesn't even warrant mention, nor does The Goondock Saints. That movie is about as "Boston" as "Far and Away" is.

I mean, it's a good flick. But it didn't blow me away or anything. Thought "Mystic River" and "The Town" were much better.

Simmons may have been indirectly responsible for me getting bleeped by the FCC.

Lumet dies and suddenly "The Verdict" is #1. I'm sure he'd have tweeted that a week ago.
