Although records for our 12 year old pool are spotty and incomplete, one thing is clear: This year's winner will have the Most. Points. Ever.

At a MINIMUM (which at this point is #3 UConn over #8 Butler in the final) Person in first wins with a record 277* points.

In the not-so-unlikely-after-all event that VCU beats Kentucky in the final, Person in second wins with a previously unimaginable 371* points. I don't think that many points has even been POSSIBLE in any previous Cindy, much less ever achieved.

Those are the only two who can win it all at this point. A 100 point lead going into the final weekend will do that for you. A Kentucky win over UConn in the semi finals seals things for Person in second, who managed to pick 3 of the Final Four teams in his entry. A UConn win in that game makes Person in first uncatchable.

3rd place is still up for grabs

Of interest: Even with their 100 point leads over the rest of the field, both our leaders still have the same zero in their entry with Belmont, a team that was picked in 23 entries. (Butler and VCU were picked 9 and 4 times, respectively.) In fact, every entry in contention for the money has at least one zero among their five teams.

Speaking of which, unlucky person has the only entry including VCU without a chance to make the money. This is due, perhaps, to the fact that his other 4 teams combined for a not-so-whopping 9 points.

When the dust settled and PayPal took its cut, the final prize pool was $3,309.94.* Take off $20 for the Moose, and that leaves us with $1973.96 for first place, $986.98 for second and $328.93 for third. All in all, not too shabby.

Great job, poolers. This is what makes our format great. While 99 percent of bracket pools have been decided because NOBODY has any teams left, ours is going down to the wire. Or at least until Saturday.

I think I had Louisville and Texas and MIssouri. I could very well be in last place, I haven't checked since the first weekend.
