Cash for charity = not something I typically do
There's nothing I find more loathsome than begging for money. Our bar's holiday promotion this year was "give cash for this fucking poor family in Lynn so that their kids can have Christmas presents." And our (mercifully recently fired) dipshit bar manager made me stop trivia for seven fucking minutes so that he could go around and beg customers for cash. What a fucking embarrassment.
Charity is private. I do charitable things. But I'm not going to talk about them in detail, because that's not the point of performing charitable acts. People should do what they feel they can. And that's it. It's not something that should become grounds for judgment or an obligation. That defeats the whole purpose.
I'm sorry that Mk had to deal with somebody who thought that what she was doing was socially acceptable. Hell, I had a guy with a squeegee come up to my car at the end of the South Station exit off 93 south on Thursday who started clearing the rainwater from my rear window. I rolled down the window and told him "whoa, whoa, I'm all set, buddy." Nobody has manners anymore.
