Just did my taxes and I owe about 2k. I'm hoping I fucked up somehow, cause I don't feel like cutting that check.

Might have to change my filing status for 2011, as well.

You can type in all your info on H&R Block online and find out your balance before you have to pay if you want to do a double check

I did my taxes 3 times on Taxslayer and it kept telling me that I owed the state $2500. With them, it turns out that there was no way to "wipe the slate clean" and start over, like I thought I was doing. I guess it serves me right for opting for the cheapest option out there.

You're a smarter man than I, B Luc, so no offense intended, but go back and eyeball every single number you entered from your W-2(s) into the computer. As it turns out, I had merely fat-fingered a single keystroke and never noticed. BTW Mass state returns took less than 4 days to go from "hit send" to "money deposited to account." I was very impressed considering Mass will probably start issuing IOUs pretty soon, California style.

and fwiw, I actually am only getting 150 back this year, net......the changes I made in my witholdings worked out well

so I compared TurboTax and H&R Block this yr.

weird to me that i get more $$ back from H&R Block
