The White Sox schedule for next season is out. Unfortunately, the Twins are on it.

But the good news about next year is that Manny Ramirez won’t be here. Can’t be here. Not after the failure Tuesday night --- heck, not after his continued failure since arriving, and remember, he arrived at least one day later than he could’ve, probably two.
One of the best hitters with runners in scoring position, Ramirez struck out three times in those situations. Man, does he ever need to be on the juice. Someone get him a syringe, quick.
Forget it. Too late. Then the bullpen choked like Ramirez, and the game and the mirage of a division race were all over but the blaming.
Remember how Sox manager Ozzie Guillen didn’t want that traditional slugging designated hitter?
Looks like Ramirez has been that guy. Unfortunately. After stranding six runners Tuesday, Ramirez has produced zero home runs and zero RBIs --- count ‘em, zero --- since coming to the Sox. Here’s how awful he has been: He needed only a flyball in one at-bat to score Paul Koneko, who had tripled (yes, tripled; God stopped the game and gave him the planet), but couldn’t even make contact to ground out weakly.
Ramirez has 10 singles as a Sox. Woo-freakin’-hoo.
He has struck out 13 times since he deigned to show up to his new team. Thanks for making more than one-third of your at-bats the least productive outs in the game, pal.
His batting average is .270. His slugging percentage is .2-pathetic. The Sox are spending almost $4 million on a guy who can’t out-hit or out-slug Juan Pierre and Brent Lillibridge.

According to Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston, the Red Sox will pay Manny Ramirez $1.94 million for each of the next 16 years, beginning in 2011.

Ramirez was given $31 million in deferred payments as part of the eight-year, $160 million contract he signed with the Red Sox in December of 2000.

But that’s not all. Ramirez will also receive $15 million in deferred payments from the Dodgers over the next three years, including $3,333,333 in 2011 and 2012 and $8.3 million in 2013.
