having a dinner get together at the homestead on Saturday night, about 1o people total....

any suggestions on something simple to make aside from the typical chick parm, lasagne or pot roast dinners

Made braised lamb shanks last week...real easy to make and so good

I don't know if I'll be able to make it Saturday night

maybe a lil seafood, pork, lamb (might look at T's suggestion).....I'd do chicken or beef if it was something different

Butter lettuce taco's are all the rage right now. Its finger food though.

I have been dying to make veal schnitzel. Think you could pull it off? Works with pork as well.

Bed of butter lettuce leaves topped with choice of grilled, fried or even braised meat/fish/poultry. Chose any number of toppings from salsa, diced veggies, guacamole, sour cream. Maybe some shredded cheese. The idea being guests take a lettuce leaf and fill it with what they like and eat it like a taco.

I didn't say they just became popular.......I am however quoting a cooking magazine, I read last month, thats headline went something like "5 simple homemade recipes for your next dinner party" #1 was a butter lettuce spread.
