Defend? You mistake my intentions sir. I learn from my grammatical errors here. See as I have explained before I never had to take English in high school or college....others did it for me. So I my writing skills are lacking.

Then and than....learned it here to give you one example. Commander and chief....another.

I received some help keeping my English marks up so I could still play sports. Tutors and the like. In the 80's tutors meant someone would write your stuff for you or at least clean up the mess I called a report.
