got my sister-in-law for Secret Santa and she is going to Italy in a few months. No clue what to get her so I was going to give her some Euros and a Fodor's book on Italy.

Fodor's/Frommer's/etc. are actually great gifts, especially if you're giving the trip as the big gift.

I got a bunch of them from different trips.

I haven't (yet) reached the point in my career where I can buy trips to Italy.

it took me three times of reading the post to realize that your sister-in-law didn't actually win a Trip to Italy in a Secret Santa.

I stopped by the exchange kiosk at the Burlington Mall last week (after having Chick-fil-A for the first time ever.) Out of curiosity, I asked how many Canadian dollars I'd get for $100 American. I was told $87.

What a racket. This is why people need to pay attention to the news. I understand that the kiosk is going to take a cut, but $100 was trading at $100.60 the day I asked. Some poor consumer may have been ripped off at 13%.

If you don't do your homework and take less willingly, you're not getting ripped off.

Yeah, but would anybody take less willingly? Don't get me wrong, I think they can and should pay out whatever they want. It's on the consumer to be knowledgeable.

Just by going there, wouldn't that be doing it willingly?
