DENVER timberland portugal, Dec. 9 (UPI) -- One of the West's first strong storms of the season slid out of Colorado Tuesday, slowing drivers to a crawl but sending skiers racing down the slopes.
The Rocky Mountain News reported chain restrictions were still in place early Tuesday in some places. Skies across much of the state were clear Nike Free Run, but accidents marred the Denver commute after several inches of snow turned into an icy slush on the roads.
The storm raised the avalanche danger from low across much of the state to moderate or moderate-to-considerable.
"Avalanches are lurking, and back country travelers need to use extra caution," said avalanche forecaster Dale Atkins of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that heavy snow was falling in the Twin Cities metro area and across central and southern Minnesota Tuesday.
