What happened w/ the other gig you interviewed for? No go?

Was told "I'm not going to leave anyone hanging/we'll call and let you know if we are proceeding or not/I'm going on vacation the week of July 4th so I'll contact everyone by then", and haven't heard a word. lol. I do know they haven't filled the position.

I do have an interview for the NASA job tomorrow, and it happens to be someone I've worked with in the past on this same contract. I should at least get some sense of the stability of that part of the contract.

Meeting with the owner and GM today at 4...they hinted to me a couple of weeks ago that they were interested in moving a trivia night from White Horse (where 120 people sit and play) to the Avenue (which has 82 chairs.) As you might surmise, I'm not really on board with the idea. We'll see what they have to say today...I drove the AGM home tonight, and he had plenty of (drunken) praise for what I do...so it's nice to get a tangible vote of confidence. It's just baffling to me that somebody would even start a discussion with me about making that change to what I do.

The owner and GM of Stump! Trivia? Because if that's the case, they have every right to have that discussions w/o consulting you first. regardless of how popular your nights are, they still own the company. Not saying it's the best business practice, but there has to be a reason why they're considering it.

Also, the Avenue is a terrible venue for...pretty much anything, really.

Ahhh, gotcha. Maybe they're just trying to mix things up on whatever night is your current trivia night because they're not banking what they'd like. Or maybe Avenue is struggling and they think you'd be a good way of bringing in more bank over there. I don't know how much you can really force their hand, though, if it's a $$$ issue on their end.

That's the thing, B Luc. I put 120 people in the seats on Wednesday. Avenue has 82 chairs. That won't make them money.

VT, I understand. I'm not saying it makes much sense, unless Avenue is failing on the books and they think they can just move you over there and the horse will keep functioning w/o your trivia night. All of this is just my opinion.

That's what the owner seems to believe. He acknowledges that the Avenue is not doing super hot since he bought and re-opened it two months ago. I could certainly grow their business...but at what cost to our flagship bar? Especially when you consider how well Tavern in the Square is doing...and they have two trivia nights already. Let's not embolden them.

I'm the number one trivia host in town. I wouldn't want to work with somebody who would get rid of me anyway. I can't lose.
