- I go to bat for a buddy and hand in his resume for consideration, basically "marrying" myself to said buddy in the eyes of the company
- Said buddy gets hired and turns out to not be a slacker worker and is there for 6+ months
- Company decides to cut me a check because the buddy I vouched for isn't a slacker

And my buddy should get a cut of the check the company gave me because he's NOT a shitty employee? Why?

Yeah I don't get it, they already gained something on the deal, and you hypothetically have a lot to lose if things don't pan out. That's why referral bonuses exist in the first place.

Wow.....I can't believe anyone thinks the new hire is entitled to anything but the fucking job. I've been on both ends of this.....and it was never a consideration to split any of the bonus $$$. Just not even a thought.

At the end of the day my name/rep is far more important than trying to help a buddy get a job. So maybe I am looking into it deeper.

If I refer you for a job at my company I do it with the assumption that you're going to do the job and do it well. I'm not going to refer someone in hopes they'll last X amount of months so I can get the kickback from the company. Maybe it's just me.
