The only thing the Saints can do now is clean house. I mean, your GM is suspended for half the season, the head coach is gone for the entire season, the OC is suspended and the entire franchise's image is tarnished.

I'm not necessarily saying I agree with the punishment, but it has been handed down and the season will be full of turmoil as it is. It is time to open up the checkbook for Cowher or Gruden and do it now before the draft.

Why do people continue to suggest Bill Cowher as a coaching candidate? He's been out of the game for five years now. Sure, it's not unprecedented for somebody to return to coaching a la Dick Vermeil, but it seems to me that if he wanted back in, he could have returned already.

AY, The NFL hasn't gotten around to dealing with the players yet either, I'm guessing Vilma and others could be looking at big suspensions or fines as well.
Drew Brees is no spring chicken, this decision fucks them pretty good.... but then again, they fucked themselves.
VT, Bill Cowher has won a Super Bowl, his Steelers teams were always very good and he's articulate. A pretty good combo for somoene wanting a positive brand for their organization.
He would be crazy to leave that TV gig he has too. It's perfect for him but I could see him returning at some point, maybe when Fat Boy is axed he could coach the NYJ.

That was my idea, Section 40. Seems to me Cowher has written off NFL coaching for good.
