Not sure if cross-posted somewhere else, but did anyone catch the Bradford interview of Jack Edwards on 'EEI this weekend? Didn't hear it live but caught the Big Show for 30 seconds talking about it so I checked the audio out on WEEI. What a fucking embarrassment Bradford is; not sure who the shitheads were with him, but they were even more awful. It was a tag team hatchet job and the fact that those fuckheads have a job hosting a radio show is a testament to how bad WEEI has become.

They're going to be almost irrelevant at this rate.

So Simmons is starting his own spinoff called grantland.com what the fuck is grantland?
I like the idea of his Wire/nba playoffs column but I lost interest after 2 paragraphs and I am an NBA and Wire fan.

Presuming an homage to grantland rice.

Hilarious if Simmons considers himself a peer.

Yeah, it's after Grantland Rice, old-timey sportswriter that nobody knows (save midd). Funny thing is, if he turned in his work today, it would get ripped up in his face (that's an indictment on modern things, not him).

Agreed midd, definitely ironic naming it after him then having a Deadspin chick write 5,000 words about the Knicks and another about summer movies.

Spence, that was not good at all.

two famous grantland rice quotes:

"Once in a while they argue about the fastest game—hockey or basketball; then about the roughest game—boxing or football, or water polo. But when it comes to the top combination the answer is lacrosse, the all-star combination of speed and body contact. It requires more elements of skill than any game I know."

Outlined against a blue-gray October sky the Four Horsemen rode again. In dramatic lore they are known as famine, pestilence, destruction and death. These are only aliases. Their real names are: Stuhldreher, Miller, Crowley and Layden. They formed the crest of the South Bend cyclone before which another fighting Army team was swept over the precipice at the Polo Grounds this afternoon as 55,000 spectators peered down upon the bewildering panorama spread out upon the green plain below.

That 2nd quote is the one I had in mind.

"It was the best of times, it was the...smworst of times?!?"

Um, who ever argued hoops was faster than hockey?

It's funny how they can say 'scum' and 'dirtbag' but not 'scumbag' (I think it's old lingo for a used rubber).

I got dropped saying "tits" on a call. But after I got it out.

It's just so silly what you can and can't say.

Well March Madness coverage just got a lot worse. It was bad enough they brought in the NBA guys who hadn't seen a college game all year, but now they let Gus get away.

I think he's calling the Pacquaio v Mosely fight though. For once, I might like boxing.
