Why didn't lebron go to college?



because he would have to show up for the finals.

this series once again reminded us about the importance of team player talent, over great individual player talent.
dallas was the better team, had zero weak links in their chain, played for each other, trusted each other, loved each other, and left everything on the floor for each other. you add these traits to all of their amazing individual talents as professional nba players, and you have the makings of champions.

miami's players obviously didn't give as much of a shit about each other. yes, they wanted to win just as much, but they all had their own individual agenda's going on mentally, and you can tell that they just weren't as close as a team and this was somewhat exposed during dallas's 3 straight wins. that was the x-factor that decided the title in my opinion, because it cannot be argued that miami has the more talented team. plus, rick carlisle vs. spoelstra looked like mike tyson vs. peter mcneeley. these two factors came together like the perfect storm.

lebron, for all his greatness as a cavalier, carrying that team of spare parts, looked like he was pretty much destroyed by the media engine that he was created by in miami (and even before that when espn covered him in high school). he just wanted it to end, and in fact, the reason why it looked like he quit, was probably because he knew that he couldn't win even if he won (if that makes any sense at all), so he did just that. he checked out. human nature, and hopefully the humbling experience that was dropped on him this year, he will use as a positive in his life, because quite frankly, since he left cleveland, he has been truly hate-able as a public figure. dallas's defense on him probably helped break his will too. they were smothering him the entire series much like the celtics used to, and that probably played a giant role too. the straw that broke the camel's back if you will.

there are no easy ways to glory in life, and sports parallels life in countless ways. the same media engine that created him as the guaranteed future "greatest of all time" (led by the commander and chief espn waving the flag when he was an adolescent), is now destroying him, and lebron has no choice to be more humble and respectful of everything around him from here on in, because there really is nowhere else to go in the public image department.

i will always hate him regardless.

excellant post ed .. good to see some perspective on here.. .. generally agree with everything here and real question of how lebron handles this is might define 2012 season.. think a shorter regular season will be good for him since only playoffs will matter.. your dead on with espn..if i hear another espn guy say this should be about celebrating dallas now and then spend 15 minutes on lebron..just shoot me
