NHL 10-11 Season

For all non-Boston, non-gambling sports chatter

I don't think it will be that weird for Savard since I've seen in a number of places that he's pretty much hated by the entire league. Maybe he and Avery can play with Grabovski, Lapierre and Jarko Ruutu at some point just so everyone could unite and hate them all at the same time.

I don't know the back story, but I remember seeing an ESPN player's poll where he was one of the top 5 most hated player (back when he was in ATL), and mentioned in a couple of other spots.

Might have to do with him doing stuff like trying to blame Sobotka for the botched line change last Spring, but it's weird because he doesn't commit cheap shots or seem to dive a lot.

Does he call the press box during games and demand to be given assists?

He was known as a lazy, selfish player going back to his Rangers/Campbell days (late '90s). Though that label followed him here to some degree, he's been a good citizen since arriving here and has pretty much shed the label. And his teammates like him for the most part. He's nowhere near the same category as Avery or Ruutu.

No offense, but how do you know his teammates now like him? I mean they all didn't rush to his defense last year.

None taken. I asked them.

Rush to his defense when? When he was hit or after Game 7?

Ok gotcha. I meant after both situations...and Savard seemed to throw Sobotka under the bus after Game 7

Nobody defended Savard after Game 7. But I don't think anybody went to bat for Sobotka either.

As for the hit, I don't think the guys on the ice realized what transpired (it was quick and away from the puck). As for the lack of a response later in game, that was indicative of a year-long, team-wide problem of not stepping up when the time called for it.

The notion of the Bruins not responding because it was Marc Savard who got hit is, frankly, foolish.

Lapierre just got pummeled by Powe. Powe had two hard, legal hits on Habs and we know that's a no-no now so he had to answer for it.

Like I said, I think it's nonsense. I'm shocked Lapierre actually dropped the gloves.

Sutter trades Sutter, leaving third Sutter Sutter-less.
