Sox going to have to let Paps walk for nothing after this year. They can't take the chance that he would accept their offer of arbitration and make $14+ mill, draft pick compensation be damned.

$12 million for Paps is the biggest waste of money since my dad bought me those rubbers in high school.

Red Sox with Papelbon on the roster >>>>>>>> Red Sox without him, hoping Bard or Jenks are that good at closing - and that someone will dominate the 8th like Bard.

It's not your money, and they make plenty, they spent plenty elsewhere, and there is no cap. So who cares?

I hate Papelbon.

These are the facts of the case, and they are undisputed.

Sox were chasing a jose bautista trade with the blue jays before they signed crawford. interesting to see how many bombs that guy hits this year, he single-handedly won 92% of fantasy leagues last year.

Bautista in Fenway would have been a lot of fun to see but removing Crawford from the Rays will have to do for now. Wells is gone so the Jays should be able to pay him and Bautista is only 30 so unless Toronto gets cheap he should be terrorizing the AL East for the next 5+ years.

The Red Sox didn't remove Crawford from Tampa. He would have gone somewhere else had he not come to Boston. Good bid.

2011 Tampa Bay = - Carl Crawford
2011 Sox = + Carl Crawford
Advantage Red Sox.
Even you should be able to comprehend that Ronald.

Wasn't 2011 Tampa going to be minus CC anyway?

No, CC was going to take the home town discount and play for peanuts but he really wanted to play behind John Lackey so the Sox were able to entice him with that, and 120 million.
