Do you guys use any special soap or solution when cleaning the innards of the grill? Need to give it good douching and was looking for any tips.

Just scrape off any big chunks. You don't want the inside of a grill sparkling, that black stuff is flavor. Clean the cooking surface by heating the grill real high and then hit it with a brush. If you must, just use soap and water.

When I grilled some lamb chops, some grease splashed next to the metal part where the flames come out and was burning close to it. Had to kill gas quick. Just want to prevent myself from blowing up the 'hood.

Do you not clean your grill at all?

That's the thing, it was on the burner so by attempting to burn it off, it might catch fire on the burner and I don't need that.

It's clean now, I was just trolling for any little tricks that people might use when doing the down and dirty grill cleaning---not just the actual grill where you put the food (thanks Ted, BTW). At the previous pad (the condo), we just had one of those Weber Q grills before I upgraded to the bad-boy on the deck.

WTF, are you grilling indoors? Or brontasauraus burgers? How could you have so much build up on the heat shield that you would think it would cause a more than a flame up???

It wasn't bad at all. My old man was a Boston jake for 30 yrs. during much busier times so I'm paranoid/super cautious around fire-related shit.

yes, dick....i scrub it with a wire brush.....In the spring time, I take it all apart and take a wire brush to all the insides as well
