No definitive plans yet, but my buddy was thinking of taking the train from Norwood Center. If that's the final plan, then we'll probably just head inside & hobnob.
Indeed, the T schedule says it arrives 3:05, which would get us into the stadium 3:30 or so after disembarking the train & walking from the station. Kickoff is 4:30.
I took the train down once. Obviously you don't have time to tailgate, which sucks, but getting out of there without sitting in traffic for hours is a huge plus. If I had tickets in a suite I would consider it.

Yeah the train is alright. No time to tailgate beforehand and you have to beeline it back there after but it's worth it not to drive.
Also the thing gets packed. Both times I've done it involved standing shoulder to shoulder (on the ride down anyways). Also the last 10 miles of track the train can only go like 8mph so the trip takes longer than it should.
There is no "earlier" train to take RA. The MBTA runs two trains to Foxboro on game day. One departs South Station and the other departs from Providence. They meet on the same track facing each other in Foxboro usually 30 minutes before kickoff.
