With so much drama at Don Otto's and De Luca's, it's time for some good grocery news. And, at last, we can deliver. We hear that a new specialty market is opening in Southie on Monday. American Provisions will sell farmstead cheeses, house-cured meats, fresh baked goods, homemade condiments, to-go dinners, and other goodies previously unseen in Southie shops. Two South Boston denizens, Matt Thayer and Andy Fadous, own the place. It's at 613 East Broadway in South Boston; doors open at 7 a.m.

I had some nice youths throw glass bottles at me and my girlfriend in the parking lot across from CVS and adjacent to Bank of America on West Broadway when I lived there 5-6 yrs ago. Luckily they had bad aim.

It is good to see this story make it into the news. This type of shit happens in every city, the difference in Southie right now is that a good amount of the people moving there have no idea about it. They should have added a second part of the story featuring the drug addicts that wander the streets in the middle of the night.
