Kidding aside, it's actually kind of nice not going out for a month. Not to mention how little money I spend.

What sucks is having a rough day and not coming home and pouring a glass of scotch.

if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield you can get $150 back on your gym membership fees. I know anyone who has BCBS is probably aware of this but here's the form

Fuck it...

I joined the World Gym in Southie a few years back after a McCain-like vetting process. Cheap price and steam bath enticed me.

First day in, I'm drying off after a shower and hear one guy to another, "What are your plans for Pride Weekend?". Now, I'm a pretty tolerant dude. But this was a test. And I know just because they're gay doesn't mean I'm cute. Still, it was an eye-opener (and not the brown one).

A couple minutes later, I'm brushing my teeth looking in the mirror and notice another pair of eyes on the mirror so I just kind of look and blink away...but he's not. He's wookin' pa nub...in all the wrong places. I felt like Al Pacino in "Cruising", except for the whole 'undercover detective' part. I got dressed and promptly canceled my membership.

I tell my buddies the stories. "Guy," they say, "Mike's in the South End closed a few months ago. That's the new gym for its former members."

D'oh!

Suddenly, the overpriced BAC looked a lot better than potentially walking in on a steamed-up gang bang (which was a rumored activity at Mike's). Lost my deposit but was able to get out on monthly charge after I switched a bill address.

And I never lifted another weight again...

Another side note: got a gift certificate for 10 sessions to Peter Welch's Boxing Gym in Southie. Supposedly a great workout. Will try it out next week.
