There wasn't really any evidence but the movie definitely had you thinking he might have had something to do with it. Or he was just driven crazy by what happened (which is the real story).
He's in this one but the suspicion shifts, very heavily, to the stepfather of one of the dead boys. Dude tried to sue Natalie Maines for slander & apparently didn't realize he could be asked anything in his deposition. And his answers relating to the murders were pretty sketchy.
The police did an incredibly bad job at investigating.
I can't believe people watch these and still think Damien Echols was involved somehow.
