Even after going to my first horse races (and having a hell of a time) this past summer I can't think of a single more boring theme for a movie than horse racing. If there's going to be horses in a film then there better be some human with a gun/sword/weapon of some kind riding it. And explosions. Pass.

Was Seabiscuit good? I didn't even give it the HBO treatment.

I could give a shit about horse racing, don't know a goddamn thing about it and I absolutely loved Seabiscuit.

So well done and I was on the edge of my seat multiple times.

Secretariat is just another Bullshit Disney Feelgood Sports Movie.

It's Remember the Titans / Miracle / Glory Road with horses.

Diane Lane is ballsy! John Malkovich is quirky! I WONDER IF IT WILL ALL WORK OUT???

All of these movies are exactly the same.

vapid cheesy schmaltzy fluff aimed at braindead Flyover State folks who wouldn't know a good movie if it came up behind them and stuck a cattle prod up their ass.

Would/will absolutely laugh in anyone's face who admits paying to see this movie.

Pretty cool movie, pretty good movie. Well acted, very good script. But seems a tad overpraised by the critics (they tend to fawn over those they're fans of, in this case there's 3 of them---Sorkin, Fincher, and Eisenberg).

I don't see it as 'capturing the generation' or as a time capsule for an era (like The Graduate), as it is being touted as doing.

I can see noms for Screenplay, Picture, Actor, and Supporting (for the kid who plays the twins).

Definitely worth a watch. But I do hope there are better movies to be seen between now and year's end. B+

A Beautiful Mind on HBO right now.

Nine years later, it's still hard to believe this won Best Picture.
