Remember The Brewers Prospect With The Ridiculous Laugh? He Was Back At It Again On MLB Network This Morning
Without context, that picture is terrifying. But for those of you who don’t know who that is, that’s Brett Phillips. He’s a 22-year-old outfield prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers’ system — No. 7, according to MLB.com — but what he’s most known for is his absolutely ridiculous laugh. I wrote a blog about it last spring when his video with, then, Brewers reliever Will Smith went viral.
Phillips only played as high as Double-A last season, where he hit .229 with a .729 OPS, so he’ll need some more reps down in the minors before we see him on a big league diamond, but that doesn’t mean that he can’t check in with the boys on MLB Network.
I don’t care how unfunny the things are that make him laugh like that. I will never not laugh at his actual laugh. I don’t understand, like, what is actually happening to his body when he’s laughing like that? It doesn’t seem normal to me, and it almost looks borderline painful. But that’s a guy that I NEED in my major league clubhouse.
Could you imagine giving up six earned runs, getting pulled from the game, storming into the dugout so that you can fire your glove at the bench and chokeslam a Gatorade cooler, but then you see this motherfucker’s face? It basically eliminates all rage in your body and replaces it with rainbows and happiness. Can’t buy team morale like that.
