Giancarlo Stanton’s Home Run For Team USA Over The Weekend Was The Fourth Hardest Hit Ball Ever Recorded

World Baseball Classic - Pool F - Game 6 - United States v Dominican Republic

That ball was fucking SMOKED. The bigger story from over the weekend is obviously that Team USA took down the mighty Dominican Republic, eliminating the defending WBC champs 6-3 in San Diego. However, it was in that game that Marlins star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton AKA Big Dick Stanton AKA BDS almost knocked over a fuckin’ building. The title of this blog, admittedly, might be a little misleading because the Statcast Era hasn’t been around for very long (since the start of 2015), but I would imagine that if that was the fourth hardest-hit ball recorded during the Statcast Era, that it’ll still rank pretty highly among the hardest-hit balls of all-time, rivaling even some Steroid Era blasts.

Team USA now moves on to the Championship Round in Los Angeles where they will take on Japan tomorrow night for a chance to play in the championship game, which will be held on Wednesday night. If USA wins, they will play the winner of Puerto Rico versus the Netherlands, who will play each other tonight. All three games will be played at 9pm ET on MLB Network. America. Fuck yeah.
