Breaking News: Didi Gregorious Has A Shoulder Issue
The World Baseball Classic just became stupid again. It’s bad enough that the best players in the game aren’t playing, but now Yankees are getting injured and the fun and games are over.
Over the weekend I previewed our lineup for the season and said that although I didn’t like Didi being out of camp most of the Spring, at least he was playing in meaningful games. 5 of those 6 games were at DH so this likely wasn’t brought on by throwing too much and would have happened anyway, but blood clotting isn’t what you want with 2 weeks left in Spring Training.
Right now you hope that Didi just needs to shut things down for a week or so, and he can play, but going for a second set of tests is concerning. If Didi isn’t ready for the start of the season, we could see Castro slide over to short or Torreyes take over for a few weeks but don’t expect Torres yet. The Yankees are high on Torres in the long term and regardless of what he has done this spring, they plan to bring him along slowly.
