Business Insider – Less than a year after P. Diddy’s son, Justin Combs, committed to play football at UCLA, state taxpayers are calling on the well-heeled freshman to turn over his $54,000 scholarship to students who need it more. In an interview with CNN, education contributor Dr. Steve Perry defended Combs’ merit-based scholarship, saying he earned it fair and square. At the Upstate New York prep school where Combs recently graduated, he maintained a 3.75 GPA while playing cornerback for the football team. “He’s done what he needs to do to be successful and in ‘Ameritocracy’ we have to accept that no matter who your father is, whether he be rich, poor or absent, that you can in fact be successful on your own merit,” Perry said. There’s no denying P. Diddy can afford to send his son to college. The entertainment mogul was recently named the wealthiest artist in Hip-Hop by Forbes Magazine, so far earning $45 million in 2012. But as Perry pointed out, Combs’ scholarship is awarded to student athletes specifically and isn’t exactly a free ticket to a four-year picnic. Combs will be required to train 40 hours per week as well as attend classes full-time.

Such typical 99% bullshit.  This is exactly why I should be right there with Occupy protestors idealistically yet I can’t fucking stand them.  The kid should give back his scholarship that he earned busting his ass playing football and getting a 3.75 GPA?  Why?  Because his dad is rich?  Because his dad worked hard and got famous and parlayed that into music and TV and movies and the 100 other things he does?   Yes his music sucks but that’s not the point.  This is America.  You work hard at something and find your niche you can make a shit load of money.  That’s what Diddy did.  You can provide for your family and buy them nice things but you don’t just hand everything to them.  You make them work their ass off and do well in school and excel at sports and make their own name for themselves.  Which is exactly what Justin Combs did.    And if all that doesn’t work you find a fatass black rapper from Brooklyn and ride his coattails to the top.   Hey whiny babies you want your kids to get scholarships?  Have them be smarter and learn how to intercept passes.  If not shut the fuck up and hand in your apps to Santa Monica Community.
