SARATOGA SPRINGS – Skidmore men’s soccer has cancelled the program’s spring schedule following an investigation into a hazing incident that occurred last November. A release that was sent out by the college Thursday included a letter to the Skidmore community authored by school president Philip A. Glotzbach. It said that 28 students, including 24 members of the team, were disciplined. The college added that the initiation, which occurred on November 30, 2012, was referred to by some as “Rookie Night.” Officials say this particular hazing incident did not allegedly involve any physical injuries, but rather involved drinking.
“All student-athletes sign a pledge at the start of every season stating that they will not engage in any form of hazing,” the release said. “They are public ambassadors for the College; as such, we expect them to represent Skidmore at its very best. In failing to honor that pledge, the students in question have not only endangered a number of their fellow students but also threatened the core values that bind and undergird our entire community.” The college administration forwarded the results of its investigation onto the Saratoga Springs Police Department to determine whether there was a criminal element to the hazing.

Listen even I can understand when colleges have to hand down punishments for shit that gets out of control. If kids are getting like actually injured or left on the street on the verge of death you’re going to get in some trouble. But drinking on Rookie Night? With no injuries whatsoever reported?
