OXFORD, Ohio (AP) — A suspended fraternity at Miami University in southern Ohio has sued the school for $10 million. Phi Kappa Tau was one of two fraternities suspended after an incident earlier this month involving a fireworks battle between frat houses that police say led to the discovery of illegal drugs. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Phi Kappa Tau claims in the lawsuit that the university acted recklessly and maliciously when they imposed the punishment. The federal action also claims the suspension interferes with the fraternity’s business operations and violates members’ constitutional rights.
Kind of conflicted on this one. Like on the one hand everybody knows I hate lawsuits especially extreme ones. And I kind of fail to see exactly how constitutional rights were violated here to be honest. Unless of course Jefferson threw a line in there about being able to stock your frat house up with Silver Sonic Warheads and firebomb the fuck out of the house next door while smoking weed then Adams signed off on it. BUT on the other hand college administrators are some of the biggest power tripping assholes on the planet. Bullies in suits plain and simple. Think they can do whatever the fuck they want with no repercussions. Saying their main concern is student safety and growth and preparing them for the real world when in fact that’s the exact opposite of what they care about. So do I think a bunch of bros caught red handed with fireworks and weed are facing an uphill battle here? Yes. Am I rooting for them to get a 100 billion dollar settlement here? Double yes.
