(WDIV) – Utica Police caught 55-year-old Raymound Kulma going on a drunken joyride. But as you can see from this police dashcam video, he wasn’t behind a wheel of a car, he was cruising on motorized wheel chair — James Konkel’s wheel chair. The arrest was made on Greeley Street, near this Utica senior living complex where James and Raymond got into an argument before the 55-year-old stole James’ wheelchair. Chief Faber told WDIV Raymond wasn’t just drunk, he was really drunk. Konkel had this to say on what he thinks should happen to Raymond, “I think he needs to be locked up for a little while. Maybe it will teach him a lesson.”
Are these people for real talking about Raymond Kulma? Talking about how it’s like his 80th offense. How he needs to be locked up for life to be taught a lesson. How he’s a menace to society. Ahh it’s a motorized wheelchair pal. Probably the least dangerous form of transportation on the market. Literally designed for decrepit 98 year olds and mentally handicapped people to get around. If anything it should be the recommended mode of transportation for a blacked out drunk. Just kick back and flick your wrist and get motorized home. What’s the worst thing that happens? You drift into the path of an oncoming car? If you die you die. That’s your fault. Not harming anybody else. I mean the stealing of the motorized wheelchair is messed up. James Konkel can have a legitimate beef with having to crawl to a phone and dial the cops to get his wheels back. But let’s not all go losing our minds that this bro was riding dirty on a Hoveround with a .35
