ESPN – As the legend of “Johnny Football” grew on Saturday night with the Aggies’ 29-24 upset of top-ranked Alabama, it became clear that the family of Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was putting itself in position to one day capitalize off his nickname.  ”Texas A&M is working in concert with the Manziel family to trademark the nickname,” said Shane Hinckley, who is assistant vice president of business development at the school and runs the Aggies’ licensing program.   The news comes less than two weeks after an organization called Kenneth R. Reynolds Family Investments, based in College Station, Texas, filed for the “Johnny Football” trademark. The namesake of the investment company could be a former and since deceased Aggie booster of the same name. A lawyer listed on the trademark filing did not return a call seeking comment, but a university official confirmed the lawyer was not working with the school nor the Manziels.

Biggest no brainer move in the history of college football.  Bottom line is  you just beat the #1 team in the country, the superpower of Alabama.  You’re America’s sweetheart.  The internet fucking loves you and your Scooby Doo costume.  You’re crushing ass all over campus.  You’re a rock star man.    Nobody’s hotter than you right now.  Got to strike while the iron is hot and capitalize as much as you can before the whole world turns on you as they always do.  Either that or you slowly fade into obscurity.  Just look at Tebow.  Thank God that dude cashed in all his chips before becoming completely and utterly irrelevant.  Trademark Tebowing, trillions in endorsements, making appearances all over the place.  And now he’s the backup to Mark Sanchez.  Life is short Johnny Football.   Don’t listen to the haters who tell you this is too cocky.  Get your money while you can.
