I didn’t know KO Barstool had already infiltrated my own school but I just received this email from health services at Holy Cross that singles out and only mentions “Barstool hosted events” as the reason for college drug use even though Worcester hosts tons of other foam parties and edm raves every week.
I highlighted it at the bottom of the email.
Worcester city events often include Barstool sponsored foam parties in the fall. These events are prime for “club drug” use. Students who have attended in the past have reported other negative consequences. Student have experienced unsolicited kissing, groping, tearing of clothes and have expressed fear about the crowded, uncontrolled conditions. Some students have had to seek health care for personal injuries.
I’ve got to say, I thought I heard it all about our Blackout parties: that they promote rape culture, that they force college kids to drink and party too much, that we are destroying the moral fabric of America for playing music and dancing in mascot costumes. But “unsolicited kissing” is a first I think? I mean what does that even mean? People are sneaking up on you and kissing your face all over the place without your permission? Kind of a weird thing to warn about. Like I get the “taking 6 mollys is bad for you” as overall solid life advice but sending a schoolwide email warning about french kisses and crowded conditions at a concert might be a little overkill.
Anyway I got to tip my cap to Holy Cross for warning their student population about the dangers of Barstool Blackout parties, especially after someone died at our Zedd show and 2 people died at our Electric Zoo EDM festival and 22 people were hospitalized at our Avicii show. Oh wait those weren’t our shows? And we’ve never had a drug related death or anything even close to it? But I thought college kids only party at Fckin Foam?
