CBS – Two years removed from playing in the SWAC title game with an NCAA tournament berth on the line, Grambling State has completed what might be the worst regular season in modern college basketball history. The Tigers lost 74-62 to Alabama State on Saturday, sealing their winless record, finishing 0-27 and never losing a game in single digits. Under first-year coach Joseph Price, Grambling State will wind up last in every mainstream ranking system: RPI, KenPom, BPI, Sagarin. No. 347. That is their number, the lowest number in college basketball, lower than zero. It’s infamous and depressing — and not over.
Best part about Grambling State’s season? They still got a shot at the NCAA tourney. Yup you could be filling in 0-27 Grambling State in your office bracket baby. All they got to do is run the table in the SWAC tourney against some teams they haven’t beat all year (because they haven’t beat anyone all year) to punch their auto bid. No sweat. If that happens you might even have to take them all the way right? Not about overall record, it’s about who catches fire at the right time. Some bro on Reddit calculated the odds on them winning the championship:
2.8 x E-17? Soo you’re saying there’s a chance!
