Reuters- Two German entrepreneurs have devised a way for passive-aggressive citizens to blow off some steam – dial a telephone number and give the person on the other end a verbal lashing. The swearing hotline, known as “Schimpf-los” (“swear away”) in German, has operators standing by seven days a week for frustrated individuals to jeer at and taunt using the most unsavory language they can muster. “We don’t judge people who are angry,” said Ralf Schulte, who set up the hotline with his fellow media services provider Alexander Brandenburger. “It happens. It’s natural. With us you can blow off steam no strings attached,” When callers are not creative in their cursing, or find themselves tongue-tied, operators on the hotline prod them with cheeky provocations like: “That’s the third time I’ve heard that today – is that all you’ve got?” The service costs 1.49 euros per minute – a figure Schulte feels is completely justified. “For getting everything off your chest, it’s a bargain.”
Who would ever call into a hotline that charges what I assume is an absurd amount of money so you can swear at a random person on the other end of the phone? That’s way too personal for me. If I just let loose on some one for $10 a minute and they replied with ‘That’s the third time I’ve heard that today” I’d fucking kill myself. That’s like a prostitute telling you your dick is small. Plus in this day and age there’s no reason to pay so you can swear anonymously at a person when you can swear anonymously at them over the internet for absolutely nothing. Why dial into to a slutless version of a 900 number when you can go onto Twitter or a comment section and let everyone know exactly what you think even though no one in the entire world wants to hear it? The best part about yelling at nobody in particular is that you win the argument no matter what. Who needs some assholes on a telephone telling you your insults suck for a fee when you can do it to others for free online. Now that’s stress relief.
