Source — Employees at a Florida health care company are allowed to drink on the company’s tab, on company time, thanks to a perk known as “Beer Cart Fridays.” Advance Medical CEO Jennifer Fuicelli told the Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/YGXRb2) she’s been rolling out the beer cart for two years as part of an “unorthodox corporate culture” that rewards employees for hard work. She says the company began in 2005 with four employees and now has 350 workers in two locations — Port Orange, Fla., and Broomfield, Colo. The company also hosts costume days for Halloween, barbecues on the clock and a birthday “get out of jail free” card, which can be used for a paid day off. Employees are restricted to one beer, which Fuicelli says is a small price that “pays huge dividends.
Oooh. One beer on Friday. So edgy. So hip. I guess you’re the cool boss huh? In a state where drive-thru liquor stores are more common than churches, this is about as exciting as Florida baseball when spring training ends. Wheeling out some lukewarm Budweiser Friday afternoon isn’t gonna help with the hangover I’m nursing or help me deal with the chick in HR who realllllly needs to talk to me about how playing Smokesmash isn’t appropriate when clients are in the building. Until there’s TV’s playing ESPN non-stop all over the office and a company golf trip to Cabo every year, you can save it. A beer on Friday and over cooked cheeseburger aren’t enough to make me enjoy the 7 layers of hell that is being a cubicle monkey 5 days a week.
